3. To remove the current log entries, type L to select Clear the Log
Entries.
Sending the
System Log to a
Remote Server
The syslog protocol allows you to collect messages and events produced
by a wide variety of network equipment in a single place. For instance,
instead of viewing the event logs of several separate AT-8000/8POE Fast
Ethernet switches, you can have those events sent to a single syslog
server on your network. The destination for the events is referred to as a
facility.
To transmit the system events to a syslog server, perform the following
procedure:
1. From the Main Menu, type T to select Switch Tools.
The Switch Tools Configuration Menu is shown in Figure 11 on page
50.
2. From the Switch Tools Configuration Menu, type S to select Remote
System Log.
The Remote System Log Menu is shown in Figure 16.

3. Type S to select Set System Log Server IP Address.
The following prompt is displayed:
Enter IP address of system log server>
4. Type the IP address of the system log server.
5. Type F to select Set System Log Facility.
Enter system log facility (0-7)>
